Mapping Your Masters to Tally
Tally matches items, ledgers and units by name. Before an invoice can be exported, iotoms has to know what each of your records is called in your Tally company.
Why the names must match exactly
If the file names a stock item Tally does not have, Tally does not fail. It creates a new one. You then have two masters with nearly the same name, stock sitting in the wrong one, and a clean-up nobody scheduled.
So type the Tally name exactly: same spelling, same spacing, same capitals.
Filling the mapping in
- Go to Integrations → Tally Prime.
- Click the Masters mapping tab.
- Work down the four sections. Each one shows a count in the corner — "12 unmapped" — and your job is to drive it to All mapped.
- Items → the Tally stock item name.
- Customers → the Tally party ledger name, the one the voucher bills.
- Units → the Tally unit symbol, for example
Nos,Kg,case. - Tax ledgers → the duty ledger for each of CGST, SGST and IGST. These are three different ledgers in Tally; map the ones your invoices carry.
- In each row, type the Tally name in the box on the right and press Enter, or click outside the box. It saves on its own — there is no Save button.
- Under a saved row you will see when it was set and by whom.
Use the search box at the top of a section to find one record in a long list, and the arrows at the bottom to move through the pages.
Removing a mapping
Click the ✕ at the end of a row, or clear the box and press Enter. The row goes back to unmapped, and any invoice that needs it stops being exportable.
What is not mapped here
The sales ledger and the godown are single names, the same on every voucher, so they live on the Settings tab instead.
A guided tour
Click Show me how at the top right of the screen for a short walkthrough. It runs by itself the first time you open the screen.
