Previewing an Invoice Before You Issue It

You never have to guess what the shop will be billed. The preview shows the finished document before any number is taken.

  1. Open a Confirmed order from Sales → Orders.
  2. Click Generate invoice.
  3. A panel opens titled What this order will be billed.

What the preview shows you

  • Number series — the series the invoice number will come from. The actual number is allocated only when you issue, never before, so a preview you close leaves no gap in your numbering.
  • Place of supply — and whether that makes the sale interstate (one IGST column) or within the state (CGST and SGST columns).
  • Seller and buyer GSTIN with their state codes.
  • Every line with its HSN code, the quantity in the unit the salesman actually sold in, the UQC, the rate, the taxable value and the tax split.
  • Subtotal, discount, tax and grand total.

Every figure here is worked out by the server using the same calculation that issuing uses. What you approve is exactly what gets issued.

If it cannot be issued

A red panel at the top says This invoice cannot be issued and gives the reason in plain words — for example the shop has no linked customer, or the accounting period is closed. When that panel is showing, there is no Issue invoice button at all. Fix what it names, close the panel and open it again.

If GST details are incomplete

An amber panel lists what is missing. The invoice can still be issued, but it will not be a complete tax invoice until those fields are filled in on the shop and the customer.

Discarding

Click Discard (or press Escape). Nothing is written: no invoice, no number used, no stock movement, and the order is exactly as it was.

Next: Issuing the Invoice.
