What Inventory Does

Inventory is where you keep track of how much stock you actually have, where it sits, and how it moves. It answers three everyday questions: How many units of this item do we have? — Where is that stock held? — and How do I move stock from one place to another?

The three screens

Inventory is made up of three connected screens, all under the Items section of the sidebar:

  1. Inventory (/inventory) — the stock list. Every item's quantity on hand (QOH), reserved and available quantities, minimum stock level, and low-stock state, plus the ability to adjust quantities directly.
  2. Locations (/inventory/locations) — the physical or logical places stock can live: warehouses, stores, vans, manufacturing, or in-transit. Transfers move stock between these.
  3. Transfers (/inventory/transfers) — stock movements between two locations, tracked through a full lifecycle: draft → confirmed and dispatched → in transit → received.

Key numbers to know

  • QOH (Quantity on Hand) — the total stock recorded for an item.
  • Reserved — stock already committed (for example, allocated to orders) and not free to use.
  • Available — what's actually free to sell or move: QOH minus Reserved.
  • Min Stock — the threshold below which an item is flagged as Low stock.
