Reviewing Access on the Permissions Page

Beyond assigning permissions, the Permissions page doubles as your audit view — one place to answer "what can this role actually do?" before or after making changes.

Reading the screen

  1. Open Admin → Permissions from the sidebar.
  2. Select any role from the Roles panel on the left (searchable by name or role key).
  3. Read the right-hand panel:
    • The Selected counter at the top shows the role's total number of granted features.
    • Each category heading shows an "x / y selected" line — a quick per-area summary (e.g. all reporting granted, nothing in operations).
    • Checked (green) cards are granted; unchecked cards are hidden from users with this role.
    • Each card shows the feature's name, its technical code, and a short description of what it unlocks.

What the indicators mean

  • Amber lock banner ("This role has access beyond your own…") — the role holds at least one feature you don't, so you can review it but not modify it.
  • Greyed-out cards — features you don't hold yourself and therefore can't grant to anyone. Hover a card for the explanation.

Connecting this to what users actually see

Whatever is unchecked here is completely invisible to users with the role — no menu entry, no page, no search result. If a team member reports they "can't find" a screen, this page is the first place to look: select their role and check whether the matching feature is granted. If a user sees only a "no access" message after logging in, their role most likely has zero permissions — grant some here (see Assigning Feature Permissions to a Role).

To check which role a user has in the first place, look at the Role column on the Users list, or open their account — see Editing a User.
