Managing an Item's Units (Additional Units)
Once an item is saved, its detail/edit page shows an Additional units panel under Units of measure, for selling or purchasing the item in units other than its base unit (for example, selling by the CASE when the base unit is EACH).
- Open an existing item and scroll to Units of measure → Additional units.
- To add a unit: pick a Unit from the dropdown (only units not already added to this item are offered), enter the Factor to base (how many base units it equals — e.g. 1 CASE = 24 EACH), and optionally check Purchase default and/or Sell default. Click Add unit.
- Existing units are listed in a table; you can toggle each unit's Purchase/Sell (and, for weight-based items, Receive/Count) flags directly in the table, or remove a unit with the × button. The base unit cannot be removed.
- If the item's base unit is a weight unit (e.g. KG), a Catch weight toggle appears — this is for items ordered in packs (crate, bag) but stocked by actual net weight measured at receiving. Turning it on requires the base unit to be a weight unit and at least one additional unit with a nominal weight set; you'll get an inline message if either is missing.
- Each change here (add, toggle, remove) saves immediately — it isn't part of the item form's own unsaved-changes bar.
