Adding a New Item

  1. From the Items list, click Add Item (top right).
  2. Fill in Basic info:
    • Item name (required)
    • Description (optional, up to 255 characters)
    • Item ID (required, must be unique — cannot be changed after the item is saved)
    • Product ID (required — links this item to its parent product)
    • UPC / Barcode (optional — the barcode scanned at checkout)
    • Season (optional)
    • Type: Store item (sold directly to customers) or Modifier item (an add-on/customization for another item)
  3. Under Media, optionally attach a photo from the image gallery.
  4. Under Classification, assign Department, Category, Subcategory, Brand, Style, Size, and Color — all optional, and all pulled from what you've set up under Attributes. Leave any of them as "— None —" if not applicable.
  5. Under Units of measure, pick the item's Base unit — the unit inventory is always tracked in (e.g. EACH). This list comes from Items → Units of Measure; if it's empty, add units there first. You can add additional selling/purchasing units (like CASE or BOX) once the item is saved — see Managing an Item's Units.
  6. In the Pricing panel (right side), set:
    • Selling price (required) — what customers pay
    • Cost price (optional) — your cost, used to calculate margin
    • Tax — the tax rate automatically applied when this item is sold (optional; comes from Attributes → Taxes)
    • Discount — a default discount applied at checkout (optional; comes from Attributes → Discounts)
  7. In the Status panel, choose Active (visible and ready for sale), Inactive (hidden from customers), or Archived (historical reference only).
  8. Your changes are tracked automatically — an amber bar appears at the bottom of the screen once you've made changes, with Save and Discard actions. There's no separate Save button on the form itself.
