Adding Items and Setting Prices
This is the part that makes a quotation different from an order. On an order, the item's price is the price. On a quotation, you name the price — that is what an offer is.
- In the Line Items card, click Add item (or the dashed Add the first item tile).
- Search the catalog and pick your items. You can tick several and add them in one go.
- Each line arrives with quantity 1 and the item's selling price already filled in.
- Edit Qty, Price and Discount directly on the line. Tax and the line total recalculate as you type, and the Quote Summary on the right keeps up.
- Remove a line with the × at its right-hand end.
Where each price came from
Under every line, in small grey text, is the item code and where the price came from:
- Item selling price — the default, straight from your catalog.
- Changed from $3.00 — you typed over the default, and this is the number you replaced.
- Manually priced — a price a person set, on a quotation that was saved earlier.
- Agreement price — this customer has an agreed price for this item.
That last one does not appear yet: agreed customer prices are not a feature of the product today, so for now every default price comes from the item's own selling price. When agreed prices arrive, existing quotations will keep saying exactly what they said at the time, which is the honest answer for anyone reading an old quote.
Typing the original price back in clears your override, and the line goes back to saying "Item selling price".
Discounts
Discounts are an amount, not a percentage — the same convention the New Sale screen uses, so the two tables read the same way. Tax is worked out on the price after your discount.
The totals you see are the totals you get
Subtotal, discount, tax and grand total are calculated the same way on this screen and on the saved document, to the cent. What you approve in the summary is what prints on the customer's PDF.
