What the New Sale Screen Does
- Ring up a sale at the desk. New Sale takes a sale on the spot — you pick the store and register, add the items, and record how the customer is paying. It is a till, not an order pad.
- It is the desk equivalent of the van app's checkout. Field reps sell from the Van Sales mobile app out on the route; this screen gives back-office staff (managers, cashiers, admins) the same thing for a counter pickup or a walk-in.
- Build the sale step by step. You pick a store and register, optionally attach a customer, add the items being purchased, and choose how the customer is paying.
- Totals are calculated for you. The screen works out tax and totals as you go — you don't need to calculate anything yourself.
- Saving completes the sale. When you save, the sale is recorded and shows up on Sales History, exactly like a sale that came from the mobile app.
- This is not how you book an order. If the shop wants goods delivered later — a phone order, or something a salesman agreed but could not submit — that is an order, and it belongs in Sales → Orders via Book order. Nothing you do on this screen ever reaches the orders queue. See Booking an Order from the Office.
- What this screen deliberately does not do:
- It does not let you change a sale's status after it's created (there's no status field on a completed sale yet — only a payment status).
- It does not reopen or edit a sale once it's been submitted.
