What Business Setup Does
Business Setup is where you define the physical structure of your business — the locations you operate from and the checkout points within them. Everything else in the system hangs off this structure: a store belongs to a venue, a register belongs to a store, and when a field sales rep registers a device or a transaction is rung up, it's tied back to one of these registers.
The three screens
Business Setup is made up of three connected screens, all under the Organization section of the sidebar:
- Venues (
/venues) — the top-level physical locations in your business (e.g. a city, a distribution hub). Each venue can contain multiple stores. - Stores (
/stores) — the individual stores/branches that sit under a venue. This is also where each store's promotional message/image and receipt branding (logo, header, footer) live. - Registers (
/registers) — the POS or van terminals that operate under a store. A register is what the mobile app and checkout devices connect to.
Set these up in order
- Create the Venue first.
- Create the Store next — it requires picking a venue.
- Create the Register last — it requires picking a store.
A new merchant already comes with one default venue, store, and register, so you may not need to create the first ones from scratch.
