Creating a QuickPick from Chat
The assistant can build a complete QuickPick layout for you — the button grid your POS devices show as a fast-pick menu — either from an items file you attach or straight from the items already saved in your catalog. It groups the items into pages (for example by category), shows you an editable preview right inside the chat, and only saves when you click Save.
You need the AI Agent feature on your plan to use this. If you don't see the paperclip in the message box, ask your administrator.
From a file (CSV or Excel)
- Open AI Assistant from the sidebar and stay in Chat mode.
- Click the paperclip in the input bar and choose your items file (
.csv,.tsv,.txt,.xlsx, or.xlsm). The file is read in your browser — it is never uploaded. - Optionally type instructions, for example "group by category, beverages first".
- Press Enter or click send. The assistant reads the file, matches each row against your catalog, and proposes a layout. While it works it lists what it is doing — checking your items, grouping them into pages, laying the pages out — with a timer on the step it is on. Large catalogs can take a minute; the list keeps moving so you can see it is still going.
- Rows that don't match any catalog item are skipped and listed on the preview card with a reason — a QuickPick button can only point at an item that already exists in your catalog. Add missing items first (see the Import & Export guide), then try again.
Your file needs a header row with at least one identifying column: an item code / SKU, a barcode (UPC/EAN), or the item name.
From your catalog (no file)
- In Chat mode, optionally type what you want, for example "create a QuickPick for the beverages category".
- Type Create a QuickPick from my catalog and send it.
- The assistant selects items from your saved catalog — if your instructions mention a category, brand, or department you actually have, it narrows the selection to that — and proposes a layout. The same step-by-step progress list appears while it works. Very large catalogs are trimmed to the most relevant items; the card tells you how many were considered.
Reviewing and adjusting the preview
The proposal appears as a card in the conversation:
- Name — edit the configuration name at the top of the card.
- Pages — each tab is one POS page. Click a tab to open it, rename it inline, add a page with + Page, or remove one (its items move to the Unplaced tray).
- Move an item — click an item button to select it, then pick a destination in the Move to dropdown. Items in the Unplaced tray can be moved onto any page the same way; unplaced items are not part of the layout unless you place them.
- Adjust with AI — type a new instruction (for example "group by brand instead") and click Regenerate to get a fresh proposal below. The old card stays for comparison but can no longer be saved.
Edits on the card are a draft — nothing is created until you click Save, and refreshing the page discards the draft.
Saving
- Pick the Store the QuickPick is for.
- Decide on Activate for this store now:
- Off (default): saving creates a draft configuration with no store assignment. Nothing changes on your POS devices until you assign a scope and publish it from the QuickPick screen.
- On: saving also assigns the store's scope, and POS devices at that store pick the new layout up right away.
- Click Save QuickPick, then use Open configuration to review it on the QuickPick screen — publishing, more scopes, and later edits work exactly like any manually built configuration (see the QuickPick guide).
